Coming Up Next: Larry Dubinski, President & CEO of Franklin Institute and Terra-cotta Warriors of the First Emperor

Over two-thousand years ago when Qin Shi Huang Di -China’s first emperor- was buried he wasn’t entirely alone. Less than a mile from his mausoleum near Xi’an stood an immense army of thousands of terra-cotta warriors offering protection for the emperor’s afterlife.

Flash forward to the 20th century -1974 to be exact. That’s when local farmers accidentally rediscovered the terra-cotta warriors -a discovery that dazzled and electrified the world then as it still does now.

On September 30, 2017 Terracotta Warriors of the First Emperor opened at the world-renowned Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. On exhibit for a limited time until March 4, 2018, visitors are invited to take a journey through one of the most significant archeological discoveries in human history.

To enlighten and explain all this to us on Saturday, January 27 is Mr. Larry Dubinski, the president and CEO of the Franklin Institute where this amazing exhibit is being held.

Founded in 1824 honoring America’s first scientist -Benjamin Franklin- and located in the heart of Philadelphia, the Franklin Institute is a renowned and innovative leader in the field of science and technology learning, as well as a dynamic center of activity. Pennsylvania’s most visited museum, it is dedicated to creating a passion for learning about science by offering access to hands-on science education.

We’re honored and privileged to welcome President/CEO Larry Dubinski. His wealth of experience, exceptional management skills and a deep enthusiasm and commitment to advancing science and technology learning among children and adults alike across cultures and nationalities is second-to-none. He’ll share an overview of the Franklin Institute, the significance of First Emperor Qin’s terra-cotta army and its discovery in 1974, the uniqueness of this scientific exhibit and why you should come savor an experience like no other.

I never knew Dr. Benjamin Franklin -though I did know some of his 20th century descendants- and I can tell you that Franklin would be grinning from ear-to-ear with Terracotta Warriors of the First Emperor at The Franklin Institute.
