Coming Up Next: It's Mid-Autumn Festival Time! Wes Radez of Chinese American Family Joins Us

The Saturday, September 22 broadcast of Marvels of China: Pathways to the Pacific Rim will feature Wes Radez, the creator of Chinese American Family. The Oakland, California resident started this wonderful cultural resource that serves Chinese American families -and everyone else!

Chinese American Family “focuses on cultural parenting topics like holidays, food, history and language while reaching a diverse community of families that includes Chinese Americans, multicultural couples, adoptive parents and other Americans with connections to Chinese culture.” Amen to that.

I am among many to admit that Year 2018 has been progressing at light-speed.

Try not to be too alarmed if you forgot that Monday, September 24 is the annual Mid-Autumn Festival.

I’ve invited Wes Radez to be on Conversations so we can learn more about this second-most important Chinese holiday -the first being Chinese New Year. You’ll hear about how to celebrate this harvest festival dedicated to “giving thanks, for nature’s abundance and for joyful reunions with loved one.” It arrives annually with the full moon on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar.

Go to this link on ChineseAmericanFamily.com to learn more about the Mid-Autumn Festival. While you’re at it please subscribe to Wes Radez’s web site. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did!

Finally, you’ll hear Wes review Crazy Rich Asians, the new blockbuster movie that is sweeping theaters around the world. His comments are poignant and spot-on.

As always, we’ll feature the Confucius Moment, the Weekly Almanac, Treasures of China, Chinese Fun Facts and more!
