Coming Up Next: Author Sonia Hu Discusses Shanghai, Forever Lost: A Biography of My Grandmother and Mother





This coming Saturday, August 19 I will be welcoming Ms. Sonia Hu to the Conversations segment of the Marvels of China: Pathways to the Pacific Rim Show. 

Hu is the author of Shanghai, Forever Lost: A Biography of My Grandmother and Mother. This nonfiction book is based on the true stories and events of both her grandmother and mother from 1920s Shanghai to 1950s Peking. 

Shanghai, Forever Lost presents the bonds and complexities between mother and daughter during the tumultuous years of China’s 20th century, a period dominated by war, political upheaval and human tragedy. 

Born and raised in Beijing, Sonia Hu began her career in publishing, translation and writing articles for Chinese Reader’s Digest and Foreign Theater magazines in 1985, Hu was a associate producer for the China Central Television Network, MTV and MTV Asia. 

She now lives in Rye, New York. Hu is a member of the North America Chinese Writers Association and the New York Chinese Women Writers Association.
