Coming Up Next: Connie Young Yu and Chinese Transcontinental Railroad Workers (Part Two)

Join me this coming Saturday, September 30 when I welcome back by phone from San Francisco Connie Young Yu. This is our second conversation together.

Writer, historian and lecturer, you learned last week that Yu has devoted her life and energies for more than a quarter of a century tirelessly educating the public on the history of Chinese and Asian America.

She is a descendant of Chinese railroad workers who built the Transcontinental Railroad in the 19th century. Yu is also a Trustee Emeritus Board member of the Chinese Historical Society of America. She graduated from Mills College.

In the first of two conversations Connie Young Yu educated me and our listeners about those Chinese railroad workers who endured hardship, sacrifice and discrimination as no one had before.

We'll hear more about them and Yu's efforts -and how the history of the Chinese Transcontinental Railroad workers is being disseminated to the people of the world, especially through the Chinese Railroad Workers in North America Project

Tune in for the Confucius Moment, the Weekly Almanac of events and happenings, Treasures of China, Chinese Fun Facts and more.
